About Online File Convert

Online File Convert is a collection of free tools for everyday PDF and image jobs: merging and splitting PDFs, compressing files to fit upload limits, resizing and converting pictures, and turning photos into documents. The whole idea is to make these small jobs quick and painless, without accounts, watermarks or a pile of installed software.

Your files stay on your device

Most online converters upload your file to a server. We built ours differently. Each tool runs in your browser using open-source libraries such as pdf-lib and PDF.js. Your file is read into your browser's memory, processed there, and given back to you as a download. We never receive it and cannot see it. If you want to verify that, our guide Are online file converters safe? shows a one-minute test you can run yourself.

What we believe

  • Be honest about limits. Every tool page has a "good to know" section that says what the tool does not do. If a converter cannot handle scanned PDFs, we say so instead of letting you find out.
  • Keep it fast. Pages are lightweight, fonts are your system fonts, and the heavier PDF libraries only load when you actually use a PDF tool.
  • Respect privacy. No sign-ups, no file uploads, and clear information about the analytics and advertising we do use (see our privacy policy).

How the site is funded

The tools are free to use. The site is supported by advertising and a small amount of analytics, which pays for hosting and development. Ads are never mixed into your files or results.

Our guides

The articles in our guides section are written by the Online File Convert team to help with common tasks such as hitting a file-size limit or choosing an image format. We update them when the tools change, and we would rather say "it depends" than promise something that is not true.
