How to use PDF to Word
- Add a PDF that has selectable text (if you can highlight words in it, it qualifies).
- Leave "Join wrapped lines into paragraphs" on for flowing text, or turn it off to keep each line as it was.
- Press Convert to Word and download the .docx.
About this tool
This tool reads the text layer of your PDF and writes it into a clean Word document, one page after another with page breaks in between. That makes it great for reusing text from reports, contracts and articles.
Be realistic about the result: it is a text extraction, not a full layout conversion. Columns, tables, images and fonts are not recreated, and scanned PDFs have no text to extract because there is no OCR. Our guide to converting PDFs to Word, Excel or text explains what to expect. Good to know
- Text only. Images, tables, columns and fonts are not reproduced.
- Scanned PDFs (pictures of pages) contain no text and will not work because there is no OCR.
- Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked first.

Will the layout stay the same?
No. You get the text in reading order with paragraphs, not the original design. It is meant for reusing the words.
Why did I get "no selectable text was found"?
Your PDF is most likely a scan. It is only a picture of text, and this tool does not do OCR.
Can I open the result in Google Docs or LibreOffice?
Yes. The .docx opens in Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice and Pages.
Is my document uploaded?
No. Everything is done inside your browser.
