How to use WebP to PNG
- Add your WebP images.
- Press Convert. Output is set to PNG.
- Download the PNGs one by one or as a .zip.
About this tool
If a WebP logo or icon has a transparent background, PNG is the format to convert to, because it keeps transparency and is accepted almost everywhere, including design and office software.
Expect larger files than the WebP originals. That is the price of lossless output. If size matters more than transparency, WebP to JPG is smaller. To go the other direction for the web, see JPG to WebP.
Good to know
- PNG files can be much larger than WebP.
- Animated WebP: only the first frame is converted.
- Up to 50 images at once.
WebP to PNG: frequently asked questions
Does WebP to PNG keep the transparent background?
Yes. PNG supports transparency, so see-through areas stay see-through.
Why is the PNG so much bigger?
WebP compresses far more efficiently than PNG. The same picture takes more space as PNG.
Is the conversion lossless?
PNG itself is lossless. If your WebP was lossy, its existing compression loss stays, but nothing new is lost.
